CPB-2 Bass Pedal

So, guess what we found at a dumpster? A vintage bass synthesizer! It is a Crumar CPB-2 bass synth from the early 80s. It features a full octave of keys, a volume and sustain wheels, a tuning knob, and a bunch of filter and waveform options. You can adjust the envelope, cutoff, and resonance, all sorts of stuff.

It was a little dirty upon first use, and had some missing knobs and scratchy pots, After a quick disassemble, a thorough cleaning, and replacing of the cutoff potentiometer, it was good to go!

Totally fun to play around with, what a great find!

Here’s what it looks like! Time to screw around and make a weird intro for a song…

Formed at the beginning of 2014, in Kelowna, British Columbia, Irradiation is the definition of true sonic anarchy, with influences all over the punk/thrash spectrum, and is the spawn of three audio engineers who met at CATO.

Irradiation is:

Sam K. – Guitars

Justin B. – Bass + Vox

Matt P. – Drums

We play a blend of thrash metal and punk rock. Our songs are about worldly issues, governmental corruption, war, and beer! We hope to start touring soon, but for now, keep an eye out for us in the Okanagan area!

Check out our Youtube page for some live footage, demos, and album previews! More to come soon!

The live footage is from two different shows, one was at the Knights of Columbus hall, and one at The Grateful Fed (poster below), both in Kelowna. All footage is just cell phone video, and of course, has JUST cell phone audio quality, but hey, at least there’s something up on Youtube!

The Swine demo was recorded at our drummer Matt’s place. The drums were all programmed, and the vocals were done in his kitchen. Our first recording as a band, and kind of a “proof of concept” thing, just to get SOMETHING out there!
